"At the end of the day, we can endure much more than we think we can." - Frida Kahlo
This quote by Frida is speaking to me on a deep level.
I watched my son playing in the garden and realised one day we'll explain to him that his first birthday was celebrated at home in quarantine, with friends and family in attendance over FaceTime and Zoom. We'll explain how the world was never quite the same as we once knew it. I know of friends who have loved ones overseas who are in hospital without a way to contact each other - and all they're told to do is wait. I know there are many mothers who are also homemakers, wives, homeschool teachers and full-time employees who are trying to keep their head above water and stay positive for their families. I know many small business owners who are refreshing their bank accounts with terror.
With all that to say, I'm still thankful. I'm thankful our home is our safe haven - happy place. I'm thankful we have enough food to eat and books to read. I'm thankful for the simple, little things again. I'm thankful for each other.
I've printed this quote and it hangs in our hallway, just to remind ourselves we are strong enough for this and for anything. We are all in this together. This too shall pass.
